[smartads] My 8th of 80 Provinces of the Philippines that I will be featuring. I have extra pictures in this one and some of the links go to even more pictures. I hope you enjoy all of them.
Aurora is a province of the Philippines located in the Central Luzon region. Its capital is Baler and borders, clockwise from the south, the provinces of Quezon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Isabela. To the east of Aurora is the Philippine Sea.
Before 1979, Aurora was part of the province of Quezon. Aurora was, in fact, named after Ma. Aurora Aragon, the wife of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon, the president of the Philippine Commonwealth, after whom the mother province was named.

Useless Knowledge: Francis Bacon (1561-1626), the Elizabethan champion of the scientific method, died in pursuit of a better way of preserving food. He caught a severe cold while attempting to preserve a chicken by filling it with snow.

It’s 0847 and I’m up.
You many have noticed that I changed the color of the website again. I like changing the color from time to time, but I doubt I will ever change the theme again. Unless of course I find one that fits my needs better. I check every once in awhile, but so far nothing and I have looked at a lot of them, so that’s why I doubt I’ll every change.

I was talking with Scott and a new guy on Envolve today. The new guy’s name is Bill and he plans to be visiting Calbayog soon. He wanted to know what I thought about the local hotels and if I would recommend one of them. He already looked at my Calbayog Hotel page, but just wanted to know what I thought. I gave him my unbiased opinion and it just happen to be in lines with what he was already thinking about, so he is pretty set now on which hotel he wants to use. I guess you noticed that I didn’t say which hotel it is. I did that because I don’t want to promote one hotel over another. It would be best for you to check out the page yourself and decide based on the facts. Of course if you want my opinion on the hotel or hotels, I will certainly give it to you.
Lita wanted me to come out and watch the store for her around 1:00pm, so she could come in and take a nap. Well it is 11:07 now and I’m out here already. She says she’s tired and wants to sleep, but she’s out by the picnic table blabbering away. She probably talking to a customer and she doesn’t like to be rude and just walk away. She will stand there to listen until she can’t take it anymore, then she will excuse herself and leave.

She left me in LolyKat with this cat (Blue), but I guess he doesn’t like my company. He woke up, cleaned himself a little, then left. It’s okay with me. That cat sleeps more than I do and eats more than me too. Well he eats more often. When we first saw that cat he was just skin and bones. Now he has some meat on him, but I doubt if he will every get fat. After all he still is a tom cat and he tom cats around every night.
I told Lita that I can think of more things to write about when I’m out here. I try to write things down as they happen. You never know what people are going to think is important or interesting, so I write down most things that happen. I’ve got my book with me and I’m on page 567 of 717, so I’m getting close. Besides, I had to bring the fan out here and now “I” get to sit in front of it since she left.

In fact this post would be super long if I put in everything that I wrote down. I just finished looking over my notes and I have identified 3 things that I will save to put in another post later, when I may be running short of words. However, this post is still going to be long. I’ve gotten this far with a little over 725 words and I’m not even finished with my first page of notes yet. I have 5 1/2 pages of notes. I think that maybe with the 3 things I’m leaving out, it’s down to 4 1/2, but that’s not including this paragraph that’s not even suppose to be here. I better end this paragraph and get started on the rest of the notes.
I just finished those noodles from yesterday. You know maybe I won’t use 5 cups of water next time. With the 3 12/ cups there was no juice, but it was very good that way. I’m sure that the Knorr Chicken Noodle Soup Mix is the main reason why it was so good. I think I will just continue the same way except I may add in some additional items, not much though. I noticed that we have a package of the wheat spaghetti in there. I’ve got that on my radar for later.

Chatty is out front waiting on a tricycle to go to school. I know she’s going to school because she is in her school uniform. It’s 12:45pm. I don’t know why she is going to school so late. All she would tell me is she is not late. I’ll find out later what the deal is.
I got tired of reading, so I grabbed the note pad and pen, but I can’t think of anything to write about either. Let’s see Sally and Vicky are putting out the second course of food. It’s the banana things (banana balls and banana que) and it’s 1:18pm.
Useless Knowledge: The fingernails grow faster on the hand you favor. If you are right-handed, your right fingernails will grow faster, and vice versa. The middle fingernail grows faster than any other nail.

I just saw that girl that has the pajak-pajak. She is the only girl I have ever seen that rides one. She must live down the road there somewhere to the left, away from downtown. I see her coming from that way and going back with a bata. Maybe she is picking up a little sister or brother from school? Today she had a bata riding and 1 running behind hanging on. I don’t think that is punishment or anything because I see that often with other children, usually boys.
I did hear yesterday that there are 3 van services here in Calbayog, not only 2 as I previously said in here. I was told the name of the other van service, but I don’t remember it now.

It was a beautiful morning here. There was sunshine, it wasn’t hot and there was a cool breeze. Now, at 1:39pm, it looks like it wants to rain. There are so many clouds in the sky you can not even see the sun.
I’ve given up already on trying not to use “though” so much. I will still try to limit it, but it’s just how I write and I like to keep it natural. I write pretty much like I talk, which I think is the best way to do it.
It’s 1:50pm and Lita is up and sitting at the picnic table chatting. I guess she is doing better now.

Okay, it’s 2:41pm now. Titing and I were sitting in LolyKat talking and I found out that he almost joined the US Navy back in 1987. H said that the US Navy was in the Philippines doing some recruiting of Filipinos and he wanted to join. He was going to go, but he was told that he was too short by a friend that that has a friend that was with the recruiting office. Titing is only 5’2″, so he didn’t pursue it any further after that. That’s too bad for him. I think it would have done him good. I wonder if that would have interfered with him meeting Neneng though. She is better for him than the Navy could have been. I guess it was just fate.
Okay this post is still going to be too long even with me cutting those 3 things out. I will continue with the rest of my conversation with Titing in another post, probably tomorrow.
Vicky just opened a Mountain Dew for a customer and it foamed up, hit the fan and sprayed all over me and the note pad. Oh well, I’ll live. At least until the ants get a whiff of the sugar in the Mountain Dew and attack me.

Time check: It’s 3:44pm. Here comes Lita. She says I can go in for a little while and take a nap. I think no nap. I’m going to check out the website and MJTS, then probably check out the TV stations.
It’s 7:06pm right now and I’m done watching TV and taking that nap I wasn’t going to take. I am now back in the computer room hoping that there will not be anymore interruptions.
At about 8:10pm Mar, Ludy and Marianne showed up. The brought everyone some ice cream. It was chocolate and vanilla drumsticks. The didn’t do it for any particular reason. They just did it because they are nice people.

I forgot to mention that earlier today I made another experimental food dish. I found a box of lasagna in the cabinet that we bought last November in Tacloban. I boiled half a box of it, drained it, added peppers, onions, garlic and just a little bit of chili powder. I also found the chili powder in the cabinet. This experiment wasn’t that great. It tasted like almost nothing, just pasta to me. Lita liked it. I’m going to find something to add to the leftover. I will eat that tomorrow. Maybe I can try some tomato sauce, but only if I can get the Del Monte brand. I don’t really like that Ram Brand.
We had a 1 minute brown out at 11:30pm. Right when I was fixing to push the “Shut down” on the computer, it came back up, so I just cancelled. No further instances.
The End!

Useless Knowledge: Do you think that the Vietnam War had a lot of draft dodgers? Only 16 percent of the able-bodied males in the thirteen original American colonies participated in the Revolutionary War.

Today in Philippine History
1898 – Two days after the Mock Battle of Manila between Spanish and American forces, the imperialist Bald Eagle nation lay the civilian framework for the invasion of the Philippines by assigning military officers to duty to assume civil government in the City of Manila and the district of Cavite; the development came a day after the imperialist United States began its colonial propaganda efforts through Gen. Wesley Merritt’s proclamation calling on the Filipinos not to resist US colonization/invasion, three days after the Peace Protocol between Spain and the US, and some three months after American officials deceived Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy, the ambitious President of the fledgling Philippine Republic, into believing that their government will honor the independence of the Southeast Asian archipelago amidst the Filipino soldiers’ virtual victory against the Spanish colonial forces; the infamous Mock Battle of Manila that falsely told the world that the Americans–instead of the Filipinos–defeated the colonial Spaniards in the Southeast Asian archipelago would highlight imperialist American deception of the Filipinos that began when U.S. diplomatic officials and Admiral George Dewey first made contact and forged an “alliance” with Aguinaldo to fight Spain during the second phase of the Philippine Revolution that intersected with the Spanish-American War.

Gen. Mariano Trias |
— exactly two years later, on August 15, 1900, one and one-half years into the Filipino-American War, after the fledgling Philippine Republican Army has been disbanded into guerrilla units, Aguinaldo will issue a circular to Gen. Mariano Trias asking the latter to reorganize the old revolutionary movement, the KKK (Kataastaasang, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan nang manga Anak nang Bayan) because it is seen as a great help in defense of motherland and in ending gambling and other vices.
