CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Oct 9 (PIA) – “Get them all,” is the first marching order of PNP Regional Director Asher Dolina to Isaias Tonog, the Commander of the Regional Special Operations Task Force (RSOTF). By ‘all’ Dolina refers to the private armed groups reportedly sowing terror in Samar.
During the launch of the RSOTF in Calbayog, Thursday, the security forces seemed determined to push a peaceful election by eliminating the PAGs at all cost.
The team with the ‘mission impossible’ is composed of three companies from the police and an army platoon. Their special task is to arrest PAGs with warrants and prevent those planning to harm any Samarnon.
“They will also operate on loose firearms,” said Dolina.
The two political party stalwarts Governor Sharee Ann Tan for the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and Calbayog Mayor Ronald Aquino for the Liberal Party were present and signed their pledge of commitment against political violence and non-support to private armed groups (PAGs).
NPC’s young matriarch insists she has no private army. When asked by one media practitioner if she and Mayor Aquino maintain any private army, she confidently replied, “none at all”.
Aquino also denied having one nor is he supporting any PAGs.
The PNP said they already have the names of alleged PAGs and each one is being tracked by the special task group.
