Yesterday (Sunday) at Mango I ended up buying some burnt cookies. Obviously they were not supposed to be burnt but instead of throwing them away they were offered to Donny (Southern Style Wings) and I. They were not burnt very much, just not sellable at the regular price. I kind of like burnt cookies as long as it’s not too bad. So, instead of P50 each, we bought them for P10 each. We both bought 10 cookies each. I still have 5 of them in the refrigerator.
Today (Monday) I had an interesting morning. I tried to stay up to watch as many football games as possible but I didn’t do very well. I got up in time to watch the ending of the Cowboy game but I never got around to watching it. I didn’t watch because, while I was sleeping, Ninja Van delivered a package for me. It turns out that the item delivered was not correct. It was not even close to what I ordered. It was so far off that if I would have been awake, I could have refused to accept it without even opening it because there was that much of a difference.
It may have turned out to be a good thing though because I learned something today. Just as soon as I figured out it was the wrong item I tried to do a “Return”. The problem was the only option I had was to bring the item to a J&T Express. I tried looking up their locations (600 island wide) and I could not find one in Calbayog. I couldn’t find one in Tacloban either. I happen to ask Nening (our house lady and the one that received the package) and she said there is one in town. Before I did the process online I went downtown to make sure it was the right place. It was. I talked with the guy there and he explained what I needed to do. I returned home, went through the process and returned it back downtown. Of course there was a mistake, I actually needed a different number than the tracking number supplied by Lazada when I processed it. The guy at the store looked it up online and got the number for me so I would not have to make another trip. Now I know the process for returning and item and that there is a J&T Express here in Calbayog although it does not say so on their website.
I just checked and Lazada says that they have approved the refund and it should be completed within 24 hours, since I am putting it in my Lazada Wallet. I think that’s all you can do when you pay via Cash on Delivery. If it actually happens, I’m impressed at how fast it happened.
I’m about out of soup that I keep in the freezer so we need to make some more tomorrow. Nening went to check for any beef in the freezer. We found beef, ground beef, a chicken, a ham, 3 burritos and some pork tapa. All hidden behind a stack of ice. It’s one of the reasons I do not like freezer that are not frost-free. Tomorrow morning we will buy some cabbage, green beans and onions. She will use the chicken to make the soup. I think I will get her to buy some of the noodles I like and just make a big pot of chicken noodle soup.
I was going to eat the burritos now and soup later, but I don’t want to over do it. Maybe because those 5 burnt cookies is now 3 burnt cookies. I put the burritos in the refrigerator and I’ll just have them for breakfast in the morning. The ham we found will be eaten the day after tomorrow. The other beef and the ground beef we’ll take care of the days following.
That peanut butter I bought the other day from a fellow expat is way too sweet for me. I gave 1 jar to Nening and she thinks it’s sweet also. I gave one to one of my godsons and his family finished it in 1 day (5 kids). I’m going to give him the other jar I got also. There’s no way I’m going to eat it and it will just stay in our cupboard if I don’t give it to someone that actually likes it. His baby sister is also my goddaughter so that’ll be 1 jar per godchild.
Today, 1 Nov, I could not pick up my money because it is All Saints Day and they were closed. I’ll just get it tomorrow morning, no problem. Or maybe wait until Wednesday (the 3rd) and pick up all money at the same time. That saves me a trip downtown. I should go downtown more though and walk around. I really do need all the exercise I can get.
This post seems long enough. I’ll get it ready to be viewed for tomorrow afternoon and I’ll be starting on a new post. I should have the final results of the Lazada refund by then. Now, lets see about the rest of those burnt cookies.
