I’d like to wish every Veteran a wonderful Veteran’s Day. We don’t normally get to do much for it here, but I was thinking of buying that meat and cheese platter for Veteran’s Day and letting all the veteran’s have some for free. I didn’t buy one today as I was thinking but Veteran’s Day would actually be a better time to do so. Maybe I can talk Christian into a discount or adding more items for free.
In about 10-15 minutes the entry I wrote yesterday will post to the blog. I thought I’d get started on the next one since I had a little something happen today.
I went downtown today to pick up my military money. It actually came in early (3 days ago) but we didn’t really need it until today. Tomorrow I will go pick up our social security money. I will pay what little bills we have with that. We also want to buy a microwave. We’ve been without one since we’ve been here. Then I have a little mission to begin to evidently save us around P8k per month. It might take about a year to accomplish it but I’m going to get it done if my wife will let me.
Scott (my new blog host) is setting me up today with something (I forget what he said) that will make this blog (and my other one) better available worldwide, especially in the United States where most of my viewers are from. I also replaced one of my cords with a high power cord today. It’s suppose to increase my transaction speed about 40 fold. We’ll see.
For all my readers that are also curious about military Space-A travel. If you click on the “Live” button just below the header of this blog, then that should take you to my UJ Space-A Info blog. I have sections for just about every Space-A unit in the world. Plus there are links that bring you to places that answer many of your Space-A questions.
It’s Tuesday so Mango is closed. I think I’m going to take a nap now. It’s 1:00 pm so my last article should be posting now.
Nap over. That was a nice 1.5 hour nap. It’s been raining almost all day and still sprinkling out there. I had a small lunch already. A small bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. It’s not really regular chicken noodle though. It has the chicken and the noodles plus cabbage, green beans and onions. Plus it is low sodium. I’ll eat another bowl in a few hours.
My blogs have now been officially transferred to my new host (Scott). The whole process my take up to a week but the change has been made. I really think that having the host so close is going to benefit me. I will be paying more money than I was, Scott will be a good host that is readily available to help me during my daylight hours. I had to deal with the time difference with a host in the US and it was difficult to get support.
It rained all night and it’s still raining this morning. Rain, unless it’s cats & dogs raining, doesn’t really affect things around here though. It’s pretty much business as usual. Nening is out running the errands this morning. She is paying our electric bill, going to the post office and going to the market. The woman is worth her weight in gold. Heck, she worth “my” weight in gold (which is much more). My wife depends on her for many things and I rely on her for some also. I still go to the places I want to but if it’s some place I’d rather not go, then she will do it for me. Like standing in line to pay the electric bill or standing in line anywhere for that matter, like the supermarket. I have gone shopping with her but when it’s time to stand in line I leave to do other things or go home.
Actually Nening has just returned in a pedicab. Since I am the local FPO representative, I asked her to go to the post office to have a envelope forwarded to an address in the US (the guy is no longer here in Calbayog). The post office says that I have to put this envelope in another envelope with the correction address. Okay, I can understand that. But they want to charge me P1632 to forward it. That’s over $32. That’s totally ridiculous. I’ll have to get in touch with my contact in Angeles to see what I should do about forwarding it. I better do that now while I’m thinking about it.
I just realized that our RAO (Retired Activity Office) representative is no longer here in Calbayog. I will contact the main RAO and see the procedure to getting a new rep but I have asked for a volunteer first. I asked on our local expat Facebook page. A page I started after I arrived here. I’m thinking that some of them will ask me to volunteer to do it. It’s not really my thing but I’d be happy to be the assistant to help out whomever does volunteer. I suppose if no one else does volunteer though, I could do it. I’m not sure what it all entails, but I’m hoping it won’t be too much.
Nening was off again to pay the last of our bills for us. Mission accomplished. Interest on pawns paid. One bracelet saved. The 2 largest pawns had P5k extra paid on the principle. I hope to keep this pace up and get them all out before the end of next year. Getting extra money coming in would be better but I hope we will be fine. I need to get this done so we don’t have to worry about it anymore.
Well, it’s 11:05 pm now. I’m thinking of heading to bed. I’m not sure why though. I’m not that tired but I’m kind of tired of sitting here at the computer. Or maybe I could watch a movie on the computer. My wife is still watching TV in the other room. Maybe if she’s ready for bed, I’ll go to sleep also.
Tomorrow is burger day at Mango. Oh, that’s something new I did today. I had “The Godfather” burger but I got it without the bun. It wasn’t so bad actually. I may continuing doing that. It’s a lot less carbs and I need all the help I can get in any dietary way. It did come with mojos though. It’s fried potatoes but still, overall, it was less. I’ll see what I can do about getting a side that is not a fried potato, or fried at all. I’m not sure what kind of options I would have, if any. I suppose that if I don’t have an option I could get the sides anyway but just give them away. I wonder if I can get mac & cheese, baked beans, potato salad, corn, coleslaw and/or a salad as a side? It’s 2 sides on Thursday. Any combination of those would work for me.
That’s all for this entry. I will schedule it to post tomorrow afternoon (4 Nov).
