See! I told you the next post would not be as long away as the second one was. Just in case though, here is a link to the other parts of this story, just to make sure you are all caught up.
Journey into the Unknown – Day 1 Journey into the Unknown – Day 2
So there are no more flights for today (Friday), so we decide to take Jen out to eat. Our treat this time. She paid at the mall yesterday. Since she has never been to the VFW to eat, that’s where we went. Our favorite waitress, Grace, is still working there. She is from the place in the Philippines where we live, Calbayog City.
Lita and Jen ordered the same thing, steak and eggs. It came with potatoes, toast and gravy. For me, I got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and cornbread. That came with a roll and white gravy. Lita had pineapple juice to drink, Jen and I had iced tea. Her’s sweet, mine unsweet. It was delicious, as normal. Total price was P1775 (about $35.50). We gave Grace P2000 (about $40) and told her to keep it. She is a really good waitress. If we were on the way back, and not on our way out, she would have gotten a bigger tip.
We then went shopping at SM Clark Supermarket for dinner that evening. They mostly bought fish and vegetables, but I wanted something that I can not get at home in Calbayog … cold cuts. They didn’t have exactly what I was looking for at SM though. I did get some Taco Doritos, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, mustard and hoagie rolls while there. We stopped at Bretto’s on the way back to their house to get the cold cuts. I bought 4 slices each of roast beef, honey ham and salami. Enough for 4 sandwiches. I also bought a jar of jalapenos while there. They have good meats there, plus they have a nice restaurant.
There was not much else to do the rest of the day. I checked Facebook on the borrowed laptop and told our friends in Guam that we’d probably be there tomorrow. They will be waiting for the phone call. I also had another friend send me the current schedules for Guam, Yokota, Hickam, Travis and Kadena. Flights from Guam to Travis or Hickam look good for Sunday and Monday. I’m thinking the Travis flight on Monday so we can spend a couple of days in Guam. I hear that flights from Guam to Hickam and Travis are pretty often and easy, so it looks like we’ll be just fine. Of course, first, we need to get out of Clark tomorrow.
Well, I thought I would get to whether we left out of Clark or not in this post, but I guess not. I suppose if you really want to know when/if we got out, you’ll have to come back for the next post.
Salamat, Y’all
