CAFE ELSA (located on first floor of Ciriaco)
My Observation: Okay I finally went to the Ciriaco, Cafe Elsa myself and tried out a few things. I was the only customer, but the wait service was excellent. Being a picky eater, I played it safe on ordering, but I got the salad, buffalo wings, potatoes and apple/banana shake. They do not have a list of salad dressings, so I asked and was only told 1000 island. That’s okay though, because that’s the only one I like, but just so you’ll know. The salad (P200) was very good and good size with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and shredded carrots. The only problem I had with the salad was that some of the lettuce was too big and you had to cut to fit into your mouth, or make a mess. The buffalo wings I didn’t like much. They were a little high in price at P220, but at least you got 11 wings. They were slightly spicy, which is okay with me, but there was a sour taste to them that I didn’t care for. They tasted kind of like sweet and sour chicken with more emphasis on the sour part. The potatoes had a name, but I didn’t write it down because I figured I could look on the picture of the new menu that I took. The page with the potatoes on it didn’t come out good, but the price on them was P45. They tasted okay, not great, I’d order them again. The apple/banana shake was wonderful. It cost P85 and even with the local ice cream (which I don’t really care for) it still was good. Total price was P550 ($14) so there was not tax or surcharge or anything else added to it. So overall the food was decent, but I doubt I’d eat there even if I was at the hotel because the prices are too much for me. Also, at least for me, I spent P550 and I’m still hungry. There might be other things on the menu that are fantastic and more filling, but I’ll leave that to others to judge and let me know.

From Blair: As of January 2010 — Just a quick note about the phones in the Ciriaco Hotel. Although there are phones in the rooms, you can only call the front desk. Apparently the technician has not found the time as of yet to set up the system for any outside calls. So if needed you have to call the front desk for any or all outside services or help.
From Blair: I recommend the fish on the menu but ask the waitress to get the chef to make it with the mango sauce. We had it once and every time we went for dinner we had to have it again and again. So delicious. I’m sure you will agree.
