  1. I’m planning on taking my SS at age 62 which is less than 3 years away. That’s the advice of my CFP. I can get more if I wait until I’m 66 but I don’t want to wait that long. I will have my SS and my 401K and I will still do some work online up to the limit that the Feds allow which is somewhere between 14K-15K annually. I will also have money from the sale of my house here(cross fingers).

I hope the Feds don’t do anything crazy in the next four years that will screw up my plans.

    1. Well I plan on at 66, but things could change. The difference in the amount is just so much more. Of course I don’t know how long I will be around, so it depends on my health.

  2. Yeah I’ll be 59 1/2 so there’s some tax benefits I can claim plus I can take my full pension without penalty. I’ll let the wife go to work and become a house husband, lol. I’ll draw SS when I’m 67 and by then I hope we’ll be back in the Philippines again. I don’t think my wife will adjust to life in the US too well any way. If there’s no SS left at that time I anticipate living in the Philippines will still be more affordable than the US the way things are going.

    1. Yeah I’ve still got 12 more years before being old enough to get my social security, unless I get it early, but right now I’m thinking not at 62. You’re going to wait until your 67 to move to the PI? I hope they still do have social security. I know that Romney was suppose to mess with it IF he got elected, but that didn’t happen, so I guess it will be around for a while longer.

      1. Social Security better be there unless they want a real revolution here. I’ve been paying in since I was 14 and the amount taken out is increasing next year. They’ve been doling it out to people who don’t deserve it for years and raiding it for other reasons too. If it’s not there I think you’ll see fighting in the streets. No joke.

        1. I believe you, it’s not a joke. I think there will be plenty of middle aged people out there causing problems one way or another.

      1. Glad you fixed it but I didn’t realize it was broken. I thought it was just my phones browser. I meant to mention it on Facebook but I never seem to have enough time no matter what I’m doing. I can’t see the website at work any more so I’m a little behind in my reading. I guess they actually want me to do something after 25 years of goofing off.

        1. I remember when I was working and I hardly had time to do anything. Now I have too much time. I was trying to improve the comment section and I guess it didn’t work. I never had a job that lasted 25 years, not even the Air Force. I suppose they should expect ‘some’ work out of you if they are paying you. Seems like you’d be able to retire by now though and move to the PI permanently.

          1. Three and a half years to go, but the wife wants to see the USA so there’ll be a slight delay as I promised her she could. Silly me
