Last night I went to my first Halloween party in a long time. Some people dressed up for the occasion, but I wasn’t one of them. Mostly people were dressed like cowboys. There were 2 gay guys dressed like women also. One little girl dressed as Maleficent and a family of pumpkin antenna heads.
Plenty of food. Most of it was Filipino food that I don’t eat, but there was plenty there that I did like. Enough to make me full. I got a steak, it was a little tough, but good. I also had carrot sticks (which I love) mashed potatoes w/gravy, pepperoni pizza and something else I don’t remember. There was roast pig (lechon), but I don’t really like that even though I am definitely in the minority.
It was my first time to this house. It is really new, just recently finished. It’s a big house. Really nice, but too big for me. I never could understand why people would want such a big house. If that’s what he wants, he did a good job with it. I didn’t go upstairs but the downstairs and yard were very nice and big. A big yard I like, just not a big house.
I rode to the party with Christian. He was late showing up. Typical Filipino. Since I do not have a vehicle, I do appreciate the ride though, late or not. As it turns out, it didn’t matter much that we got there over an hour after the party started. I still got my steak and mashed potatoes (although I was told there would be no mashed potatoes).
Mango was actually open yesterday, Tuesday. They are normally closed, but they closed on Monday instead because it was local election day. They are also closing early today because it is All Saint’s Day, and the Mango staff will be heading to the cemeteries to see their loved ones. He had several customers show up. Pretty busy for a day they are normally closed. Last night Christian told me that they might have to start opening on Tuesdays again. He’s not sure though, yet.
They did hire a new girl at Mango. She is the daughter of one of the Mango cooks. Mila is the mother’s name. I don’t remember the daughter’s name. She’s a cute little girl, maybe 16 or 17? It’s hard to tell with Filipinas sometimes. He might have to hire someone else too if he does decide to open on Tuesdays.
So now there are 4 people working in the restaurant, plus one maintenance guy, boyfriend (soon to be husband) of one of the other workers.
I ran out of things to talk about. I thought I’d be able to go for a while. Well, I do have more things, but they are all just vague plans. I’ll talk about them when those plans get more concrete.
I’ll be off to Mango in a couple of hours. It’s Wednesday, Expat Day, and I have already ordered a chicken/bacon presto. No real idea what it is (I think pasta), but it has chicken and bacon so it can’t be all bad.
Salamat Y’all
