Since I am running out of things to post, I decided to write another story about nothing. Nothing at all, except a bunch of rambling. The last time I did something like this it came out pretty well. At least several people told me that they liked it. They had no reason to lie, so I believed them.
My niece and her daughter are safely back home in Australia. Their 2-week visit here went quickly. It didn’t seem more than a week, for real. I finally did get a lot of the relatives over to Mango while they were here though. My niece paid for all the food that night and it came out to around P12,000. That’s around $220. I wanted to pay for part of it, but she insisted, and I relented. She is not around much, and she makes pretty good money in Australia. I remembered when I used to visit the Philippines back when I was still working, and I also would pay for everything. It just seems different to me since so many times I paid for her and now she’s old enough to be paying for me. The time goes by so quickly. It seems the older you get the faster the time goes. I know that’s not true, but it sure seems like it.
Tomorrow is Expat Day at Mango again. I pre-ordered something a bit different for tomorrow. They just recently started doing some breakfast items again and I decided to go with a ham, cheese and onion omelet, plus 1 breakfast burrito. I’m not sure how big that burrito is but I’m thinking it will be how he did it before, taking 3 regular flour tortillas and putting them together to make one large one. I asked to have potato, bacon and cheese in the burrito. I like to order things that the other expats don’t so they can see something different and maybe they will think about ordering it sometime.
Our Expat Band that we were supposed to have on 28 Oct, has been postponed. There was a death in the family and here in the Philippines there is a 40-day mourning period. That would mean that the band would be available to play again close to Christmas. Maybe they will just start on New Year Eve. I’ll make that suggestion to Christian to see his opinion on that. It might bring a lot of customers to Mango which is something that we are all working to get going again.
As for the movies we plan to show at Mango, that is still going to happen soon. All we are waiting on, that I know of, is for the staircase to be finished. There are stairs there already, but there is no handrail, or any side at all. Safety measures are a high priority for Christian, so that for sure will have to be completed. A few people have expressed interest in watching the movies, so I hope they actually do show up. I’m hoping that taking requests for different movies will be the way to go. Last time we tried doing the movie thing, I was doing all the choosing and not many showed up. I’m not sure it was because of the movies or because it was not advertised well enough. I’m hoping it goes well so we can have a 2nd night of movies also. I want to have a black & white movie day or maybe an animation movie day.
As I’m sitting here, I think about our ACR cards that has been at Immigration for about a week waiting for me to pick them up. I think I keep forgetting about them because we don’t actually use them very much at all. We only got them because it is a requirement to have them when we did our extension. If we were able to do our balikbayan like normal, then the ACR cards would not have been required and we would already be set until next October. Now, because of Scoot Air and them canceling a whole flight and not having another one with a time frame that was acceptable for my other flight, we had to get an extension and we are only good until April.
I’m also sitting here thinking about Texas. I really wish I had the money to make a trip there. I think now would be a good time to go because I’m already authorized to be here in the PI until April. I’m not sure how that would actually work if I left though. Would I be able to get back in based on that extension? Maybe with the ACR card I could. The ACR card is what in the US they called a green card. It’s just that I’m the non-Filipino instead of the non-Americans that use the green card in the US.
I suppose this is enough rambling. It’s already over 825 worlds now. I never expected it to get this big. Do you think it will get to 1000 words before I actually stop typing? Nah, I don’t think so. Not even 900.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed my rambling.
