Well, my niece, Juvic and her daughter, Samantha, just left the house, heading to the airport here in Calbayog. They have been here 2 weeks and are now on their way back home in Australia. It was a very fast 2 weeks, but it was nice to see them after them being gone for 6 years. Just about the same amount of time that I have been away from Texas. I’m not even sure when was the last time I was in Texas. All the years just run together.
Last night we all went to Mango for a feast. There were 10 of us and Juvic insisted on paying for it all, although I did make sure I still got my 10% discount for the foods that I ordered. For my wife and I (yes, she went, with a little extra push from Juvic & Samantha), I ordered the chicken fajitas. For everyone at the table, I ordered enchiladas, quesadillas and dynamite sticks. I just wanted for everyone to taste them since several of the relatives have not had them. Juvic like the enchiladas and Samantha really liked the quesadillas, plus she liked the dynamite sticks also. I didn’t get any input from the rest of the group on whether they liked it or not. Not yet anyway.
Hopefully we will be able to visit them next, but not until after I get to go to Texas first. Even if I have to go by myself and stay for only a month, it’s something and I really need to do it.
I’m having some shorts made out of extra material from expanding some shirts I bought that were a little too small, despite being listed as the same size as other shirts I purchased. The lady making the shorts is pretty good, but not really an expert on making clothes from scratch. The shirts she expanded for me and all the repairs she has made for me (and there has been many) are all great though. My wife is out there explaining it to her now. She made me some shorts before, and they fit, but they feel weird. Evidently when cutting for shorts, especially for men, you need to cut them differently for front and back. I don’t understand it, but Lita (my wife) does. Her father taught her, and he was a tailor.
Side note: I was just watching a taco eating contest on Instagram. The winner was a woman, defending champion, that took about 14 minutes, 15 seconds to eat 30 soft shell tacos. My question is, “Why did it take her so long?” I’m sure I could have done that way faster, at least 4 minutes faster. I’ve never actually tried to eat 30 tacos in 1 sitting, but I know it would not be a problem to finish. I may have to put it to the test soon.
