I went to and participated in our introduction to Tai Chi today. I was debating whether or not I should go because the Chiefs were playing the Eagles for Monday Night Football, and I wanted to watch that. I ultimately decided that football is just for now and Tai Chi could be forever. Sounds a bit dramatic, but that’s what I was thinking.
It seems walking is not always possible around here unless I want to walk in the rain, sometimes pouring rain. I would still have to walk a little in the rain, even pouring rain, because the classes are at Mango, but that is a distance of about, maybe 50-60 yards. I guess I should measure it somehow. I have been asked several times how far I live from Mango and if I measure it, I’d finally have an accurate answer.
This Tai Chi is going to take some coordination. I’m hoping that my body and mind will cooperate with each other to get the moves accomplished. We learned how to stretch and did a couple of simple moves today. He said that this stage of Tai Chi, I forget the name, has 16 different moves to learn. Maybe he said 17. Anyway, the next stage has 84 moves, and the final stage has 108. Hopefully those moves are inclusive of each other. Even if they are, that second stage will be a tough one for me to remember.
I just finished my supper for this evening. I’m still trying to do the 8/16 intermittent fasting. I don’t always get it exactly within the times I set for myself (9 am to 5 pm), but I always wait at least 16 hours before I eat again. Plus, each day I continue to try to get within my set time. So far, no cheating. Oh! Okay! There were the pistachios the other night, but that’s it. I only have water and tea (no sugar) after my last meal, usually, before 5 pm. My biggest problems are not enough exercise and eating late at night before bed. I figure if I can get those 2 things under control, then I’ll be moving in the right direction to get rid of all this ugly fat. (For you comedians out there: No, I’m not going to cut off my head to get rid of the ugly fat).
I’ve been in a poem writing mood recently. I wrote 3 new ones this week. Maybe that’s pretty fast and they are not such good poems, but they sound pretty good to me. I also found a short, older poem I wrote (only 6 lines) about the efforts of our electric company here in the Philippines. I was reading a story about them one day and the idea just came to me. I sent it to them and got positive feedback, but I was hoping to see it in one of their bulletins. Doesn’t matter really, I was just hoping. Maybe they did and I missed it.
I think that poem writing is any way you want it. Poems should come from your feelings and your life experiences. I do not write to make money, although one of my cousins think I would do well if I put them all in an e-book to sell.
Any hoot! That’s enough for this post. If you are still reading, I guess it was interesting enough for you today. I wish it could be interesting every day. More things to come because expat things are starting to pick up around here. Hopefully, excursions will be happening in the near future. Then I will have a lot to write about and plenty of pictures to share.
Salamat Y’all
