[smartads] Evidently, I’m running a little late with this post, but it’s better than the times I was going for a month or two without a post. I’ve been doing a lot of work on my other blog, UJ Space A Info, trying to get people to visit there, subscribe and click on my ads. I’m not allowed to promise them anything in return for clicking on my ads, but I try to get as much updated information out as possible to help them out.
The feature picture is inside The Islander Cafe, before renovations.
First I’d like to say a couple of things about stuff that is not going on here, but back in Texas, where Lita and I should be visiting in a few months, somehow. I say somehow because coming up with the money is always difficult for us. I had to borrow money to return back in 2017. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to get people to click on my ads on this blog and the other one. I’ve never received a donation for either blog, but I’m always hoping for that also.
Anyway, we have secured a place to stay while there, with that same sister, and we have secured a vehicle to use while visiting. The same vehicle as last time from a friend that lets us use it as long as we pay the insurance and maintain the vehicle. I’m so grateful to my sister and my friend for doing that for us.
When back in Texas I hope to see one of my goddaughters, who just got engaged and also just became an RN. There are other people that I have not seen in a very long time that I really should visit, especially the family of my late best friend. He will always be the best friend I ever had and I have not seen them since I moved here to the Philippines back in May 2010. He died 16 Feb 2013. So I’m way overdue for a visit.
As for things going on here, the internet has been slow again. From what I understand, a cable deep in the ocean has been cut and it could take until December to get it repaired. Sometimes the internet speed is okay, but other times I might as well not even bother getting online.
The Islander Cafe, right next to Mango Lounge, is now open 7 days a week from 7 am to noon. As far as I and several other expats are concerned, they have the best western style breakfast in the city. The Islander has just been renovated and it looks a lot better than before. It looks more like what you’d expect to see on an island. They also have like fast food lunch items, but they are more famous for their breakfast to us that are here.
[smartads] I’ve been working on some songs for another expat here. He is really into music from the 1960’s and I have made a special file on my computer and adding as many songs as I can find. About 85% of the songs are from the 60’s, but he has other artists/songs that he likes also. I’ve got them for him. I have a list from him, and I have most of those on there already. Just as soon as I get a memory card from him, I will transfer it all and delete most of it from my computer. I will be keeping the songs I like and adding them to my own 60’s playlist. I’m just asking for a quick meal at Mango and a beer for my services. He seems more than happy to pay that for all the songs. I have about 700 songs on there already. I’m not sure how many I’ll end up with, but I’m probably close to the end now.
We will be having our annual 4th of July party in less than 2 weeks. There will also be a chili cook-off there. I’ll have the details on that in the next post.
