This is a story about nothing. I’ve done one before and it turned out well. I just saw someone else do a post about nothing. I’ve been thinking of doing another one and I took me find that post as a sign, so here it is.
Today has been less boring than normal. I went downtown today to get money to try to have enough to last to the end of the month. There is still 7 days to payday. Normally it would not be a problem but my “Airline Dilemma”, (story already posted) is causing us to be short of money this month. We’ll make it, if my wife can curve her massive appetite for fish. Fish, even here in the Philippines, is not a cheap as it used to be.
While I was sitting here typing, the lady next door showed up with my drink. It’s basically a mango shake. I get the large for P99 (about $2) and she even volunteered to deliver to me from the sari-sari store that she is running. I let my wife taste it and she liked it also. She made me taste it first, in case it was poison (she’s a comedian).
We will be having meat loaf tomorrow. It will be the first meat loaf I’ve eaten in the Philippines I believe. Since we do not have an oven (yes, I know that is strange), we will be bringing it to the city bakery in the morning and it should be ready by the afternoon. We actually do have an oven, but it is not working. I hope to be able to buy another one in December. I figure I will have to save some of the November money and then get it early December. If I can’t pay cash for it, I don’t want it. I no longer have any extra bills and I plan to keep it that way. I’ve been down that road twice and it will not happen again. It took me too long to learn a lesson as it is.
This Sunday, 2 more days, is our cook-off at Mango. I don’t know how many contestants we will have. I only know of one, maybe 2. I hope there is at least 4 or it’s not really that much fun picking a winner. I’m thinking of entering my dish, but I don’t expect to win. I just want to introduce it to the general public because, surprisingly to me, not everyone has heard of it. I’ll let y’all know what it was in my next ‘nothing’ post. If you don’t have the answer by next Friday, remind me and I’ll get the post done.
I guess that’s enough talk about nothing for now. I’m sure there will be nothing to talk about again very soon.
