No Chicken Thighs
Remember my previous experience when getting some chicken at Jollibee? Here is the post in case you missed it or want to refresh your memory.
Two days after getting that chicken, Lita wanted more chicken. Okay, no fooling around this time. I just went straight to Jollibee because they did me so good last time (8 breast pieces). I made the same request as last time, an 8-piece chicken bucket with no thighs.
At first, they told me that it would be breast parts again. I was good with that except Lita wanted legs. I was just going to let it go and tell her that I can’t control what they put in the bucket. The breast is my favorite part of the chicken, but it’s Lita’s 3rd favorite (she likes the wings and legs more).
After a few minutes they tell me that it will be breasts and legs. Okay, that will save me some complaining, so I can live with that. I asked for 4 breasts and 4 legs. They made the announcement to the cooks in the back.
Another few minutes later they tell me that it will be all leg parts. I’m not happy with that, but Lita would be, so I said, “That’s fine”. They also informed me at this time that it would be a 20-minute wait. Okay, I’m good with that also.
While I’m waiting I notice that the front door now has a few beggars out there. I saw a couple of old guys begging and I can’t say no to the old people. I was getting my coins ready for when I departed. Just in case though, I asked about the side door, if it was open. No, it’s locked. They only have the 1 exit. Isn’t that a fire hazard?
Finally, after about 25 minutes, the chicken arrives. Although I went through the take-out lane, they didn’t know it was for take-out. I know I’m a big guy, but did they think I was going to eat all 8 pieces by myself?
When I looked in the bucket, I see 2 or 3 thighs in there. Damn it! I didn’t want to have to make a scene (not today anyway) or wait another 25 minutes, so I just let it go. Besides, I noticed that all the beggars that were out front were gone. Now would be a good time to make my escape. When they brought the bag to put the bucket in, I grabbed it and headed out the door.
I only walked like 1/8 of a mile home before getting a trike this time, but I was already drenched in sweat. Super humid day.
So, I get home and take a closer look at the chicken. Believe it or not, it was ALL thighs. They do so good for me on one day and then they do something so dumb a couple of days later.
We ate the thighs but didn’t enjoy it as much as we could have if it was breasts and/or legs (even wings would have been better than thighs).
Next time I go by there, I’m going to mention to them what happened to me, both visits. Maybe they will at least do me right that one day.
