Today, 4 Nov, has been a pretty interesting day for me and I’ve barely left the house for half the day.
Early this morning I went downtown to get our social security money, which I sent to myself via Xoom from our account at Bank of America.
I actually went to get the money yesterday evening, but when I got there, the computers were down. Since I forgot my ID (again) I could not go to another location to get the money, so I waited until today (we didn’t need the money last night anyway).
So, when I went today, I brought my ID, just in case. When I got there, I realized that I forgot the bring the transaction number. Can’t get the money without that. I had to take a trike home just to get that number. I just had the trike driver wait for me because it was only about 1 minute.
When we made it back downtown, I just gave the guy P150, which is about 8 times the amount he normally would have gotten from a trip in each direction to/from my house and downtown.
I got the money and even got a few bundles of money. I like having stacks of P500, P200, P100, P50 and P20 bills when I can get them. They are not always available, and I can get a better option at the bank when I’m there. When I came out of M Lhuillier (where I get my money), guess which trike driver pulled up? Yep! Same one that brought me home just about 15 minutes earlier. (I think he was circling the block waiting for me to come out). Anyway, he knew just exactly where to bring me to get back home.
When I got home, Nening (our house lady and cousin (by marriage), told me that my new watch arrived. She paid for it for me, so I just paid her back on the spot. She even gave me a P6 discount.
I have not owned or worn a watch in many, many years. The one I got is weird (to me) It opens/closes in like a 2-way fold. I’ve never seen a watch like that before, but that doesn’t mean much since it has been so long since I’ve had one. I found out that the watch is too small for my arm. I can get it on, but barely. It was squeezing my wrist. Nening brought it downtown this afternoon and had two extra links put in. It fits just fine now but I need to get used to having it on my wrist. It feels weird but I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually.
Then I find out that I am a guinea pig for a new experiment for TeamPH (part of PeakD). It was mentioned to me the other day, but I didn’t know it would be taking affect this fast. Actually, all the parts are not in place to get the wheel turning yet, but it’s close. I’m looking forward to it and I will have more details on it when it actually gets going. It’s something that, hopefully, will help me get a little bit more money, while also helping someone else get money.
Mango is supposed to be finishing their staircase this next week. After it is done then we can start the movie house thing rolling. I really hope that it goes over well this time around because, as I mentioned before, when we tried to do the movie thing, no one was showing up. I really want it to work so well that we have to add another day to show movies. Of course, I’m not in it for the money. I don’t get anything from it. Mango doesn’t get anything from it either, unless they buy food/drinks while there. The only thing making a profit will be our Expat Fund, which we still have not established a committee to control. Only 3 or 4 people have contributed ‘larger’ amounts of money to the fund. Most of them are contributing through the extra P50 we charge for the roasts at Mango.
That’s enough for this post. I hope I remember to talk about the upcoming roasts and, hopefully, we will have some excursions planned before my next post. Actually, I need to work on that and ask people about places they’d like to go. One of the problems is transportation, but we’ll see what we can do.
I hope you enjoyed my post and will be back for more.
The picture today is of the Mango Diablo Burger. He uses different types of “very hot” sauce, but this was the one he started out with.
