My day started early this morning. I was up at 0100, ready to watch football. It all started out well enough, Houston unexpectedly took the lead over Jacksonville and never let up. However, the afternoon game was just the opposite. The Cowboys let the Cardinals get ahead and they never relented the lead. I know the Cowboys had 3 of their starting OL out and 1 starting CB (for the year) but they played miserable. It was nothing like the first 2 games of the year. Almost like they didn’t even bother to game plan this one. Oh well! Nothing I can do about it. They played like shit, and they lost. At least Houston won so I can get a little pleasure out of my Texas teams.
Not going to Mango today and they are closed tomorrow, but I’ll be back there on Wednesday for Expat Day. I need to pre-order my lunch because it gets busy there on Wednesdays and if you don’t pre-order, you have to wait over an hour for your food. It’s okay with me really. I don’t need to be eating anyway. I’m thinking to order one of the new burgers. Or the grilled chicken with bacon and cheese is pretty delicious. So many calories. Maybe the hot & crispy chicken (a favorite of mine even when Mila adds in the extra, extra hot peppers for me).
Also, today I needed to go by the bank to see if my wire transfer worked. I’ve never set one up before and going to a Philippine account is not a gimme. One of the problems I thought I would have is that it said my account should accept US currency. Well, I have a peso account at Metro so I wasn’t sure. I went by Metro Bank and asked them, but the only advice they gave me was, “try it and see if it works”. Not encouraging. They did tell me, when I asked a couple of weeks ago, that if the money comes in in dollars, they would automatically change it to pesos. Okay, maybe that would be good enough. I have little choice. The only other option I have is to receive it via check and I already tried that twice. I have 2 checks floating around in the stratosphere somewhere. They total about $254.
So, I went to the bank around 1 pm. It’s Monday and a lot of businesspeople make their deposits on Mondays in the mornings. I didn’t want to get stuck in that mess. I showed up there around 1:30 and stood around not knowing who to ask. I finally asked a lady sitting there, looking like she wasn’t doing much and she helped me. The money was sent out on 21 Sep and it arrived in the bank today. It was there, it worked. Now I don’t have to worry about not getting my money. I don’t know the exchange rate they used yet, but it deposited a little over P11,000. I was happy about that.
I needed to withdraw some money also, while I was there. Of course, I forgot to bring my ID (again). It turns out that they have a copy of my ID online and she just compared it to me and she allowed me to receive the money. I just filled out a withdrawal slip and returned to her (because I thought I had to with an ID at that time) and she took care of it for me. I didn’t have to stand in line at all. In fact, I didn’t have to stand at all. I sat down the whole time while she went to the cashier for me and returned the money to me.
I informed her that from time to time one of these wire transfers will show up and if they just handle it the same was as this one, it would be great. After those 2 checks floating around float for a year, they can be re-sent via the wire transfer instead of a check.
My next amount building is already over $14. It takes a few months, sometimes a year, to build it up to $200. That’s when they send me the money, at or over $200 at the end of a month, then they release the money about 3 weeks after the end of that month. I hope to build that account back up with my blog money, but it will be slow going since my blogs don’t produce much income. The more people click on my ads, the faster it grows.
