Adding a little bit to the last post, the power outage did include us. The power went out about 6:05 am. The scheduled outage was supposed to be until 6 pm, but, for some reason, it came back on at 10:45 am. I’m not complaining. Unless they had to stop for some reason and need to start again another time. I don’t see anything on their Facebook page so I’m hoping we are all done with it.
I did not receive the mail I was expecting today from the FPO. I assume it will arrive tomorrow. It’s not a perfect mail system but it works better than using the Philippine Post Office. You know I actually went to the Philippine Post Office not too long ago because I was concerned about some checks I am supposed to be getting for my Google Ads on my blogs. It did look cleaner there but the system still seems flawed. The lady working there asked my name, phone number and address so she could put it in a ledger she has at the front counter. She said it was assure that if I got some mail I could be contacted. I really can’t see them calling everyone that gets mail.
Of course now it would not matter. My phone died and I can’t replace the battery. I need a new phone (and can’t afford it yet) with, hopefully, the same phone number. If I can’t get the same phone number I’m going to have to change a few things on the computer and let others know my new phone number. With this new, you have to register all your phones thing, my phone was about to be no good anyway. I couldn’t figure out how to register the phone and other expats were having a difficult time also. When you get a new phone, you can just have them register it for you.
It’s Monday, the 29th now. I’m planning for a boring day. I did show my niece Grace how to play Cribbage yesterday during the power outage. She learns pretty quickly. She didn’t win any of the 4 games we played but she has a high score of 108 that she hopes to improve on. Maybe she will want to play later. She will be going to school in Australia soon so maybe, if she plays some more, she will bring the game there and teach a few Aussies how to play.
As I was checking some of my Facebook comments I saw one that gave me an idea of something to write about on here. I know a bit about the subject but I need to research it a little bit to make sure I get all the facts and try hard not to leave anything out. The subject is about foreigners owning property in the Philippines. A lot of people think that is not possible, but it is. I’ll do a bit of research today (since I’m planning on a boring day anyway), take a few notes and then get started on typing it up.
This is the 2nd bottle of water in a row that I’ve gotten that tastes different than it normally does. I think I’m going to get Nening to change back to the suppliers that we used before, instead of these new guys. We’ve been using them for a while but now something just doesn’t taste right. I’ll check a few more bottles just in case I’m just super unlucky and got the only 2 bad tasting bottles in the bunch.
I guess it’s about time for breakfast. It’s 7:25 am and I just took all my medication (with the funny tasting water) and finished my large cup of coffee. I think there is still a little bit of coffee left so I’ll get that. As for breakfast itself, maybe bacon, eggs & toast. Or just a bowl of cereal. I had grits yesterday. I like my grits with butter and black pepper only. I’ve tried other things and that’s what I’ve found best for me.
Yeah, I’m going to head to breakfast then get started on that research. I’m sure that I will have an article posted in the next couple of days.
Salamat Y’all
The registering phones is brand new. In fact I don’t even know if it has started yet, but it will very soon if it hasn’t already. My phone just happen to die so I don’t know if it would have been turned off because of not being registered. I’ll find out. As for the land thing, I might not do that. As I was checking into it, there is a lot of information already out there. I will put a few highlights in an entry to make sure everyone knows at least that much and will link to some of the better sites I came across.
UJ,
An interesting write up in this article. Especially about the phones, when i was there last, 10 years ago I just bought a cheap local android to use while i was there and a number was assigned to it automatically and didn’t have to register anything, and just had to put on a “load” as they called it. With that i put on a 500P load and and I was good to go and didn’t have to register anything. So i was a bit confused when you mentioned registering your new cell number ….what exactly does registering do ? and who or what does it register with? As for the land thing, I think that will be a good write up and lots of expats would surely like to own a piece of land there without any strings attached which i’m sure there still will be of some sort. Stay safe amigo !!
