What a boring Saturday this has been. It’s 4:30 pm and it’s rained almost all day and it has been so uneventful. Of course, most of my days are uneventful but I was hoping something interesting would happen so I would have something to type here. Didn’t really happen. I did see Paul Russell today. He has been in Arizona the past few years and is back for a couple of weeks. He and his wife JaJa will be heading back to Arizona next month sometime. We played 8 games of pool while I was at Mango and we split 4-4. Christian stopped by and said he’d be back to play Cribbage, but he never showed up so I just left. I probably just would have won anyway (maybe that’s why he didn’t bother showing up).
I’m still waiting on the medical compression socks that the doctor in Cebu ordered for me. They are supposed to be coming via LBC but nothing yet. There was a delivery the other day and I thought it was for me, but it was for Grace instead.
I talked a little bit about politics today. Maybe that’s not a big deal for most people, but it’s something I try to avoid. It didn’t last long and I probably won’t do it again for many, many months, if at all.
Almost everyday I think about selling this property and buying elsewhere in the area. If we buy south of here we can get a lot of property for not so much money. Of course then you have to worry about electric, water, cable, internet and transportation. Those are not so readily available everywhere around here. My wife does not want to sell, she loves the area we are in. So I abide by what she wants. I can’t complain. I mean it’s all paid for and it’s a great location. Of course if we did sell the property, we could get about 7 times what we paid for it the property and building of the house combined.
We have a brownout (blackout) scheduled for tomorrow. It is supposed to be 6 am to 6 pm. It’s contradicting whether it will be the entire area or just a section north of us. I hope it’s not us. I don’t like the power being out because I do not have a generator. That’s another thing that, if we sell this property and build elsewhere, I will be sure to include getting a good, push button generator. We had one before and it had to be started like pulling on a lawnmower. No, I will not be doing that again. I’m not sure how much generator cost these days but I’m betting that P100k will be enough to get a good one. I do know that when we have long power outages, they jack up the prices. If the power is out tomorrow I need to at least get this post scheduled so you will have something to read.
I got a message from the FPO today. It looks like I will be getting some mail to distribute soon. It should be on the way. I hope it’s the mail I’m looking for even though that should have been here no later than last month.
My wife is upset at me about something. I don’t exactly why. I think I might know, but I’m not for sure. It’s cool though. She’s doing her “tampo” on me but that crap doesn’t work on me. If she wants to ignore and not talk to me for days, weeks, even months, that’s fine with me. It’s much more quiet around here. She never lasts more than a few days when she gets in this mood. After being married to her for 43+ years, she’s pretty easy to figure out. Payday is this coming Thursday. If I do not give her any money when I pick it up, she will say something to me and then the spell will be broken.
I think I need a vacation from being retired. My wife doesn’t like to leave the house most of the time though. I guess I could go without her. She’s open to the idea if I want to go to Texas for a month or so. If I could afford to go, I would. Since she still has to leave the Philippines once a year also, we could meet in Angeles, Manila or Cebu and then head over to Singapore, Korea or Japan for a day and then come back. She used to want to stay longer but now the sooner we get there and back, the happier she will be.
Today I was thinking of getting an SRRV. I hear that it’s not so tough to get one but I don’t know all the details yet. I’ll look more into it and probably report what I find on here. I did hear that the Philippines Retirement Authority will process your SRRV for free. I find that a bit hard to believe but it’s something I will be checking into tomorrow. It’s already 9:03 pm here now.
I should be getting ready for bed now. I know she will have the tv on in 2 or 3 hours to start watching her shows. If I get to sleep first, I don’t mind. Until I have to get up to go the the restroom, then I need to fall asleep all over again. Sometimes the tv is just too loud for that. Her being mad at me will ‘probably’ mean the tv will be loud. I will be getting up early in the morning and hopefully make some coffee before the power goes out, if it goes out.
This post is long enough anyway. I’m going to find a good picture of my wife and use that for the main picture. She’s really very sweet when she wants to be. I just wish she wanted to be more often.
Salamat Y’all
