For Expat Day last Wednesday I met 3 new guys. One from Italy, one from England and one from Canada. They all seemed like decent, unique guys. The Italian, the oldest of the bunch, the most intriguing. He seems to be a jack of all trades and ‘maybe’ a master of some. He said that he would bring Christian and I a loaf of Italian bread that he makes himself. He said he’d bring it to Mango around noon on Thursday.
Another expat asked me about opening a post office box here. He is not retired military but since we have at least 10 retired military with boxes already, we are allowed to let civilians also have boxes. They must use the general delivery box, but it gets here just like the rest of the mail. Actually, last week when I received the mail from Angeles, I noticed a letter, that after it left the US, made it to us in Calbayog in only 5 days. That’s pretty quick for the number of stops that the mail must make before it arrives here. That letter must have hit at all the right times at each station. That reminds me though, I need to send money to Angeles for a payment, a new box and more shipping money. I was just looking for her phone number so I could send the money through Palawan Script, but I can’t find the number. I sent her an email to ask for it again. I think that the last time I used it I must have forgotten to return it to the place I keep my reminders. I probably left it in my shorts and it got washed. I suspect she will answer soon.
Today my juice that Nening makes for me will consist of orange and mango. I found out that I don’t really like the papaya juice so we’ll be avoiding that from now on. I did find a nice looking vegetable drink that I want to try but getting the celery is a problem. We do get it, even if small most of the time, just not all the time. It’s really hit or miss. I wonder if I could grow celery in a pot here at the house? When we do get the celery, and if the drink turns out to be very good, I will be looking into trying to grow celery here. Or, more appropriately, get someone to grow it for me because I think I have a black thumb. If I try to grow it, it will die. My wife has a green thumb. She could plant a rock and get a rock pile.
On my “Around the World in 80 Days” game, I just recently went over 28,000,000 points and I have an extra 251 lives. My first goal was to see if it would show “1,000,000” points or start over. The next goal was to see if the computer would show “100” lives or stop at “99”. My next goal was to see if it would show “10,000,000”. It does all that and more. My current goals are to see if it goes over “999” lives and to see if it goes over “100,000,000” points. It will be a long time before either of those are accomplished, if I should live so long.
I also started a new game called “4 Pictures, 1 Word”. The rules are simple but the answer is not always so simple. They show you 4 pictures and you have to find the word that all 4 pictures have in common. It gives you 12 letters and how many letters in the word. You can reshuffle the letters (which sometimes helps). If you get stuck you can find out the first letter of the word. If you really get stuck you can ask a friend. Basically you just put it on Facebook and wait until someone comes up with the answer. I’ve put 4 of them on Facebook, but figured out the answer to 3 of them before I got a response.
I’ve started writing some poems again. Lately I have written some Limerick, Haiku and Free Verse poems. I want to try a new one called “Acrostic”. The other 3 forms I came across are Ode, Elegy and Ballard. I don’t remember the requirements for those 3, because I have not looked into them yet, but I believe I have written one or two Ode and also 2 or 3 Ballard poems. Maybe even Elegy but I think that one has to do with death. I’ve also written what I’m calling “Short Poems”. I saw someone else doing it and thought I’d give it a try. Here are a few of those I wrote, please tell me what you think. They are only meant to get a quick message out.

I feel the eyes upon me.
They are timid and afraid.
My smile melts their fears.

Your heart is strong.
Your heart is fragile.
Your heart is your life.

Time is precious.
Children grow up fast.
Spend more time with them.

Friends come and friends go.
But only the best of friends
remain together forever.

If you don’t believe
that you are awesome,
others won’t believe either.

Besides being more active on this blog recently, I have also been updating my UJ Space-A Info blog. I have been finding that a lot of links are no longer valid. In some cases I’m having to add more links to make it even worth viewing. I just started updating the other blog and might have to step it up a little bit to get in more than 1 update per day. It was created to help military people when they travel on Space-A but a lot of the information can be used for anyone traveling to a different location and want to know about the area. I just list different lodging, restaurants, hospitals, activities, transportation and mostly Space-A stuff other than that, that are in the area of the military bases throughout the world. If you like to travel a lot or are thinking about traveling soon, check it out. Maybe it will help. While you are there please click on some of the ads, like I hope you do for this blog. There are some interesting things out there that just may be something you need, or at least want.
This turned out to be a nice long post. I will set this one to show up for you to read in a couple of days. I have a new post coming out today and I try to spread them out every other day.
