Wednesday, October 4, 2023 started out an alright day. The only problem so far is that I did not go for a walk this morning, and I should have. I look in the mirror and see my big belly and it gets me to thinking negative. All that walking and it looks the same or even worse. Then I think that I also need to stop eating so much, especially late at night. I know that the walking is still good for me even if it doesn’t show on the outside, but I want it to show on the outside. My next task in life is to learn to control my late-night eating. I’m thinking no eating after 7 pm and eat only about half as much as I have been eating. I think I can do that. We’ll see.
Next, around 9:30 am, I headed for the Immigration Office. I hailed a trike and then had to explain to the trike driver how to get to the Immigration Office. It seems that most of them do not know where it is. Since Scoot Air screwed up our flight and my wife decided she didn’t really want to travel, if possible, I opted for us to get an extension instead. The extension costs about the same as if we would have traveled (with tickets, fees & food), but it’s only good for 6 months, versus 1 year if we traveled instead. I paid the P20.5k for our extensions and will be able to pick them up on Monday (9 Oct). I could have gotten them done today for an extra P5k each (P10k), but it was not worth it to me. I don’t need my passport for anything right now. They will keep those passports until 9 Oct when I pick them up with the extensions already stamped in them. By April we should have a new strategy and we won’t have to worry about all this airline crap anymore. I hope so anyway.
There is a new guy at Immigration. First time I’ve seen him. I heard that the lady that was there before had a hard time getting along with some of the other expats. I never had a problem with her. She was always nice to me. The guy said that each extension was a total of P10,232. But when he added it up he said the total was P26,464. I called him on his math. He didn’t believe me at first, but when he added it on his calculator, while I was up there, it came out correct. He said that he was thinking that it was express, that’s why he had the extra P6k. That didn’t make sense to me because he just told me a few minutes before that if I wanted express it would be P30k (and something)(that’s the extra P10k I was talking about in the previous paragraph). Anyway, although it was about P1k more than the last time I got our extensions, it’s all paid for and now we’re waiting.
On the way home I did walk a little bit but the sun is out and it’s humid so I got a trike that was parked in front of Philippine National Bank. The trike was one of the ones that is hard for us tall and wide guys to get in, but I did. I guess I should have just gotten in another trike, but when I got in, it wasn’t too bad, so I just went with it. He was pretty happy to get the P50 I gave him.
Okay. It’s 11:30. I’m going to head to Mango. I’ve got mail to bring. I’ll write some more in here later.
It’s 6:43 pm now. Back from Mango and nap taken. I was pretty tired today for some reason. I also had a pain in my neck. Normally I would suspect high blood pressure but that should not be true. I’m going to test my blood pressure before I go to bed tonight just to see where it stands though. I would do it now but since I woke up from my nap I’ve been feeling fine and forgot about it. I just drank some cranberry juice and I’m thinking that might affect the blood pressure outcome. You know what, I’m going to do it right now AND later. I like to take it 3 times. The results now are 130/89, 135/89 and 133/82, in that order. None of those are really high. I mean they are in the Hypertension Stage 1 area. But, as I stated, I just drank some cranberry juice, plus I took my medication about 8 hours ago. Not ideal, but not enough to make my neck hurt. It must have been something else in my neck. Whatever it was, it’s fine now and I’m not going to worry unless it comes back again. I’ll take my blood pressure again in 3 or 4 hours, before bed and we’ll see what it is then. Of course, you won’t know unless you read my next post what it will be, because this is the end of this post.
Thank you for reading. I hope it was enjoyable, entertaining and/or provided you with some knowledge.
