It was not a very interesting day today, but I still have a few things to talk about. Of course, mostly it has to do with the Mango complex.
I woke up this morning to find out that the rash my wife has had the past few days is just about gone, hopefully for good. She has been having a hard time sleeping because of the itching. She was sound asleep when I got up though.
After checking my fantasy football, e-mail and just a little messing around on the computer, I headed for Mango. It’s Sunday and it’s supposed to be Game Day, but no one bothers showing up. We already changed it from Saturday because people said Sunday would be better. Still didn’t help very long. After a couple of Sundays, they started not showing up again. We’ll figure it out.
Yesterday was one of the Mango employees last day. He is going to work in Manila. He was the only male employee at the restaurant left. The maintenance man is male, but I think he is the very last male left that works for Christian. I assume he will be looking for a new employee soon.
When I went to Mango today, the new guy and his wife that will be running the Mango Store, were there cleaning it out. It looks like the store could be open as early as this coming Tuesday. It’s supposed to start out with mostly basic items, like a sari-sari store, but harder to get items will be added soon, like dill pickles and jalapenos. He will also have his baking business on the side. I think I’ve convinced him to make tortillas, so that would be something I’ll be sure to buy.
I gave them some of the beef/cabbage soup that we made. I hope they like it. I believe they have been working all day trying to get the store in shape and have not had time to cook anything. It’s fine. We always have lots of soup around the house. I’ve got 7 or 8 containers in my freezer/refrigerator right now.
Christian’s dogs are still not used to Vadar (the Rottweiler) yet. They still bark their heads off when he comes out of the house. It’s loud and annoying so I hope they get used to him quickly.
It’s Sunday night so I’ll have to go take a nap soon because I will be up watching a lot of football in the early morning hours. In fact, let me check right quick when that Germany game comes on. **** WAIT WAIT WAIT ****. It comes on at 10:30 tonight, Philippine time. Most of the rest of the games normally start here at 1:00 am. I see that they start at 0200 now. Did they just have daylight savings time in the US? My Cowboys play the later game (5:25 am) but the Texans are in the first set of games, so I’ll be up watching them all. I’m going to be so tired.
Some of the cousins are back visiting again. Lately when they come by, they’ve been bringing green beans and okra from their garden. I think they are growing way more than they eat at their house. I just found out, only green beans today, no okra.
The guy at the store (Emil) is my new walking partner. We should be starting on Tuesday morning. He wanted to start in the morning, but I can’t do that because I’m going to be up all night, watching football. Tuesday will be exactly 3 weeks since the last time I walked.
Well that’s enough for now. I need to head to bed and get some rest before the football begins. I’ll see y’all on the other side.
Salamat Y’all
