Yesterday while at Mango Lounge I got to see a couple of friends that I haven’t seen for a while because of this COVID-19. They just stopped by for a few minutes and we had to do elbow bumps instead of handshakes, but it was good to see them. I hear that another of my friends may be heading for Mango today, if he can get there. If he goes, I’ll probably stop by there again to see him. I might as well play more dominoes while I’m there.
I saw a food on Facebook yesterday. It was a grilled ham and cheese on French toast. I looked it up on the internet and found out that the name of it is a Monte Cristo sandwich. Today I made 4 of those. Lita and I ate, plus we shared with the relatives also. They are pretty good even though it was my first time making them. Just like a grilled ham and cheese with some egg mixed in there. I also had a small glass of Nestle’s chocolate milk. I had not had chocolate milk in a long time. Like I said, it was small so I also had to drink a 1/2 liter of water. It’s now 10:45 am and what I just ate should last me until tonight around 6 pm or so. I usually only eat 2 meals a day anyway.
I still have not received my stimulus check. Lita got hers. I guess I’m going to just fill out the non-filers form and send it in. I shouldn’t have to. I mean she got hers and we are both retired receiving social security.
Robert stopped by this morning (6 May). He’s looking for someone to wash his clothes. Neneng has a friend that washes clothes for a living so she’s going to contact her to see if she’ll do it. It’ll probably turn into a weekly thing after that. More business for her and a much needed service for Robert.
Christian informs me that they might start serving tacos this Friday (2 more days). I’ve had some of his mini-tacos from a party we attended at Mango and they were really good. They are hard tacos and I like the soft (more original) tacos better, but I’ll take what I can get for now. Maybe soon he’ll have a lot more Mexican food. I’ll keep pushing for it, that’s for sure. Having burritos, empanadas, quesadillas, tacos and enchiladas again would be great. Migas for breakfast is so delicious too. I’ll get with Mark on that for “The Islander” restaurant. I don’t know when they will open back up, but I hope it will not be too much longer. It’s possible to get the flour tortillas here, just not as plentiful as in Texas.
I just got back from Mango. A few extra guys were around today. Social distancing was harder but we managed. I played dominoes again today. Not too many games because my back was hurting and it’s so humid outside. I played 3 1 on 1 and 1 3-hand game. I won all the 1 on 1’s, but ended up in last for the 3-handed game. Robert made a miracle comeback and won after being 30 points behind. Christian only needed 5 to win, I needed 25. Oh well. They are learning and they like it, so I’m good with losing every now and then.
After I got back, about 3:45 pm, I decided I better eat. I have not eaten all day. I had a couple of egg and cheese sandwiches and a salad along with a liter of water.
This post is already past my minimum threshold of 500 words so I guess I’ll close it and start fresh tomorrow. Y’all have a good life and stay safe.
